10+ Tips To Boost Your Pinterest Marketing

November 13, 2017

Pinterest is really a God sent, many people has share their success of how Pinterest has better their blog, while some hasn't been able to get 5 repins on their pins and are struggling tirelessly.

Are you one of those that wants to take pining to the next level? Want tons of repins? And return of investment from Pinterest? It's so painful after pinning an article and end up having 20 visits from that pin. In fact 20 visit is even much, I actually got less then. If you're wanting to pin better then flow with me.

I'm not yet a Pinterest geek but over the past few months I was able to take my pinning to another level and from my analytics I am really doing good, I have being able to better my pin by 80% and the ROI am getting from Pinterest to my blog is something to write home about.

So today I will be sharing the exact strategy I have used over these months that helps me increase my success by 80% in less than 3months. So if you're willing to learn and increase your reach on Pinterest then this article is for you!

VERTICAL IMAGES INSTEAD OF HORIZONTAL
When I first sign up Pinterest, I didn't know it's value and how it works, I just pin the articles on my blog and that's because I had the Pinterest share button on my blog! If it wasn't there I wouldn't have pin in the first place.

I was a fan of square images and that's exactly what I pin to Pinterest and believe me I never got any clicks! Not until I read some blogs and discovered the hidden treasure in Pinterest and I changed my approach to pinning by creating vertical image (800×1200 or 1000×1500 pixels).

This help me a lot and I was able to get 200 clicks from my first vertical image. It wasn't on this blog though but on my first blog which I later deleted and started this (less than two month ago). So the pin was deleted as well!

TEXT  ON IMAGES
Back then, images on my blog was directly from Google, with no editing ( I only rename), I pinned them without text just human and animals photos respectively. But I stopped and started creating my own images with Canva and textgram (and also poster maker) after I read an infographic on Pinterest that kicked against images with human faces and encouraged text on images, I started adding my blog post title to my images as well as creating better titles for my images. And guess what? I have discovered people don't care about your image but the text that carries your message.. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use nice backgrounds and colors!

COLORS AND LAYOUT
Colors and layout of your text is something crucial, I learnt that red does fine though I don't often use it! I prefer my purple & pink and some extra colors though. What's even more crucial is making sure your images are attractive and appealing to the eye.

Also the layout of your text places strong roles on in the success of your pin. So make sure they're perfect! You can create one or two and send to a friend(s) for suggestions if you're in doubt!

CREATE IMAGE SPECIFICALLY FOR PINTEREST!
This is one thing I've learnt to do, I create images for Pinterest and create another for my blog. In fact I create 3 or more images for a post and I use different titles other than my blog post title. You can't tell which pin will go viral and which title grabs attention the most.

Note: I don't have to upload these images on my blog, I upload to Pinterest directly and then link back to my post.

OPTIMIZE YOUR BLOG IMAGES FOR PINTEREST.
Aside creating image for Pinterest, I also make sure the images on my blog are Pinterest responsive but not in exceptional cases!

Why I do this? I usually add call to action on my articles and I ask my readers to pin image article, so if my images aren't beautiful and Pinterest responsive they might not want to pin.. Besides that, I've found myself pinning people's images because it's responsive and beautifulness; it beautify my profile. 😃

But sometimes making your blog images pinterest ready isn't possible because some images are better when it's in its horizontal nature and won't be appealing if converted to vertical form and make it responsive for Pinterest. Also some blog template or theme looks nice with some kind of image that might not be healthy for Pinterest. So I found a solution for this so that my readers can join me to pin.

I create the image of my choice, upload to Pinterest and link back to my blog post. Afterwards I embed the pin on my blog and ask readers to Repin. This might work for you!

SCHEDULE PINS
I want to be on Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and more but time isn't my friend at all, so to escape this I normally schedule my pins and use time I would have use for pinning manually to do something else!

I use crowdfire and buffer to post to multiple social networks at once but when it comes to Pinterest I will say Tailwind rocks, I wasn't a fan until many bloggers recommended it and I had no option than to join.. Lol if you can't beat them, join them.

I join them and it was helpful, I had fun with Tailwind and also maximize my pin with their analytics. Tailwind is a must, and there are lots of tailwind support groups on Facebook, so you don't have any problem.

Tailwind has free trial which you can opt out if you don't like them, so trial them! I doubt if you won't like them.

I use Tailwind Together With Boardbooster and they're great when combined together. Some ersons however prefer Boardbooster to tailwind but I love tailwind as well as Boardbooster, So I use the two. You might not need the two but sign up with my link now and give them a try, anyone you prefer then stick to it!

TAILWIND TRIBES
These is the fast rising way to get your pin go viral, tailwind tribes are like community but for sharing pins and getting lots of repins from those pins. Most blogger find tailwind tribes to be more useful than Group Board.

Tailwind Tribe is absolutely free, just sign up for free trial and start joining tribes, I'm in some hot tribes and there are really great but if you're using free trial of Tailwind, you won't be able to schedule pins (after you've reach your limit), you will have to pin manually to your tribes.

Whether you're using Tailwind or Boardbooster, make sure you join tribes related to your niche and share your pins, if you don't then you'll be missing some repins and traffic!

RICH PIN FUNCTIONALITY
I use to see pins with bold title and some descriptive text below and I wanted my pin to look alike because it's really attractive but I never knew how to achieve that, I tried using html bolding tag but I still didn't got want I wanted until I read a post that talks about rich pin and I applied on my blog!

Rich pins add extra data below your pin image, such as your blog post title, your site’s favicon (the small icon that appears in your browser bar), and the name of your site and more. This is GOLD for helping your pins stand out, look professional, and get re-pinned a thousand times or maybe million, C'mon claim that.😃

So start using Pinterest rich pin functionality and help your pin to be outstanding and get many repins.

JOIN GROUP BOARDS
When I join Pinterest newly, I never knew there was anything like Group boards and when I learnt about group boards I still didn't take them serious until I got tired of getting 0-1 repin per pin on Pinterest. So I started searching for Pinterest group boards to join!

You haven't join group boards yet? I will teach you how to join.

HOW TO FIND AND JOIN PINTEREST GROUP BOARDS.

1.Using Pingroupie.
PinGroupie is a website designed for finding Pinterest group boards. This is how it works;

When you go to pingroupie.com and type your keywords (lets I wanted to join personal finance group boards, I just type personal finance or Finance), The list of group boards with such keyword will be display.

Then you can proceed by clicking any or all group boards displayed (it's your choice), then read their description on Pinterest to get details to join and know if the group is available for new Pinners or not.

If details to join isn't included, just locate the group owner and get their email, if their email isn't on their profile you can visit his or her website/blog and find a way to contact them. Ones these is achieved, politely ask them to add you to their board. Include the email you used to join Pinterest (that's what you'll be added with). You can also drop link to your Pinterest profile if they ask.

To locate a group board owner, click on the very  first icon of images in the group board (leave a comment if you're struggling to contact the group owner).

2.Pinterest Personality.
If you have any top person on your niche, you could simply visit their Pinterest profile and see group boards they're in and read description of how to join or if it isn't available for new Pinners.
Now repeat the above process to contact group owner and get added to the board.
