I have been blogging for some time now, when I started blogging I actually took some wrong steps, so don't feel perturbed if you've made some mistake; it's part of learning and blogging. So you see, I'm not an island, I have made mistake but learnt from it!

Thomas Alva Edison, I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

So below are some working things you should do after you've launched your blog! If you're yet to launch then read on to stay informed.

1.Submit Site To Search Engine
Every blogger aspire to get free traffic from search engine, though it's a bit difficult to out rank those top blogs out there and get traffic. But it's not too difficult to get started! It's better to take a step! I call it step of faith.☺

The first step to achieving your aspiration is submitting your blog to search engines like Google and Bing!

This won't fetch you tons of Search traffic but it's a good start, at least getting your posts indexed and creating some level of awareness on your blog.

Uhm I didn't mentioned yahoo, because when your site is submitted to bing it automatically submits to Yahoo! So to submit your website to Bing follow this link.

After you've logged in, you'll be asked to verify your website , there are tons of options but I recommend you use site verification method. You'll be given some codes to paste on your blog! It's a little techy but easy. If you need help indicate via comment.

To login, you will need a Microsoft account or a yahoo account! Use which ever you have or create one ASAP!

To submit to Google follow this link, you'll need to login with your Google account and afterwards you can submit you site and wait for approval.

If you want to learn more about getting traffic from search engine and ranking your blog, check out this eBook!

2.Start Inter linking your article.
You've written and published some article? Have you linked those that are related? If No then do ASAP!

Why? Interlinking reduces bounce rate and increases time spent on your time! You also get readers find some other of your posts and probably increase your page views.

If you've written articles, start interlinking related ones, use words like RELATED, READ ALSO, MUST READ, DON'T MISS and more.

3.Get Social
If you're a blogger and haven't joined some social media sites like Facebook and Twitter; Pinterest And LinkedIn if necessary, then you're not doing yourself any good.

As a blogger you need to join social networks, this is a way to promote your blog and network with like mind bloggers.

So create an account on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

You might be needing to sign up for bookmarking sites and forums like Digg, Quora, Medium, Stumbleupon, Delicious, and more!

In addition, you should add share buttons on your blog for easy sharing. SumoMe is a good start, you may consider ShareAholic for WordPress!

4.Create Your Strategy
What strategy are you using to promote & run your blog? Don't have any? Too bad!

You need to develop strategies for publishing, writing, promoting and more! This is a must!

Know how often you want to post
Having a posting schedule is a great idea, it helps your blog stay organized and give readers an insight of when to expect something from you.

Don't make mistake of thinking you must post everyday except in exceptional niches like news! But it isn't good to publish daily, uhm it's fine but not compulsory, top bloggers I know don't publish everyday. So don't stress yourself by trying to publish everyday!

Decide if you'll be posting 1, 3, 4, 5 times a week or even less or more. Will you be posting on Mondays, Tuesdays etc? Decide when to post and be consistent.

Know the type of post for each day
Whichever days you decide to be publishing blog posts, know the type of posts for this days. Is it LIST posts on Monday? CONTROVERSIAL posts and more? Just know your stuff.

Know your targeted audience and where they hang out
You seriously need to know who your blog and its posts is for, it's called knowing your targeted audience.

Are your posts for male or female? Or both? What age are you targeting? What location are you targeting? US? Brazil? Canada and? Name them!

You should know your targeted audience and also where they hang out the most. Are they mostly on Facebook? Or rather twitter? You should know all these so you won't waste your time on stuff that doesn't work.

In addition, you should keep record of things that worked and the ones the didn't to avoid futher mistakes!

5.Write And Schedule More Articles
You've probably posted some articles but may not have some that are queued for the next weeks or months, so it's a nice idea to write more articles and schedule them for the days ahead.

Once a guest storms your blog, they might wanna check back some other time especially if your blog was helpful, so when they finds out you have something new they'll want to stick around and maybe become loyal readers.

6.Automate Share To Social Networks
Don't assume you can do it all, no you actually can't, even if you can; save your energy for something else.

You should automate your blog posts on social platforms and reduce work load for yourself. No matter how little it saves you it's something.

Dlvr.it is a good tool for automating blog posts on social networking sites. It's automatically shares to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest ( Pinterest is a premium feature), when you publish a new post.

7.Do Guest Post
Driving traffic to a new blog is the nightmare of most bloggers and also converting guest into readers and keen followers is another hard task.

However guest posting seems more like a life saver and a game changer, guest posting is one way to drive traffic to a blog and also get readers.

To start guest posting, locate top blogs that are similar to yours, and submit a guest post.

Your post should be unique, don't copy and paste. Write fresh and unique content!

You should as well research the blog you intend on guest posting to, check the length of articles on the blog, check there post type and try to offer something similar and helpful. Make sure your post isn't the same as what they have on the blog, if you're writing How To Start A Blog, make sure there's no how to start a blog on that blog.

Make sure you're given opportunity to link back to your blog, it should be at least a link in your bio but if it's above one then fine and utilize it fabulously. If it's more than one, link to a related post on your blog and more!

The infographics below contains some good guest posting guide, check it out and please pin it on Pinterest.

Lastly Amy has a great guest posting guide, don't hesitate to check it out and learn!

8.Start Email Marketing
"Email marketing is long dead" I hear some people say, I hope you ain't among those and if you are then change that mentality ASAP.

Email Marketing isn't dead, in fact it's getting more healthy.

I can count timelessly when I've clicked websites from my email and made affiliate purchases based on recommendations from my email list. So it isn't dead at all.

After you've launched your blog, sign up with emailing tools and start getting subscribers and probably marketing.

What emailing tools should you sign up with?

Mailerlite, I am currently using Mailerlite and they're awesome. I love the fact that I can easily create forms and Mailerlite is free forever up to 1,000 subscribers.

Mailchimp, I also have personal experience with Mailchimp, I've used them and they're great. I left Mailchimp to MailerLite because of the form creation feature. Mailchimp create forms also but I tend to find MailerLite easier.. That's just me, it could be different for you.

Mailchimp is free  forever up to 2,000 subscribers, quite impressive when compared to Mailerlite but I stick with MailerLite though! Also MailerLite free version has automation feature which Mailchimp free doesn't. I still recommend Mailchimp though! They're great!

Convert kits, I don't have personal experience with convert kits, but I don't even need to have before recommending it, I have heard tons of bloggers talking about it, in fact I've not heard such good stuff about Mailerlite and Mailchimp.

Oops Covert kits isn't free you need to pay before using them! They're great!

If you're not having a personal blog but solely business, I mean big business that requires email marketing please use GetResponse or InfusionSoft. I have heard great stuff about Awember for both big and small businesses.

Stick to whichever platform you feel works most for you. What's important is bulking emailing subscribers, automating and getting your email marketing right!

9.Monetize
If you've not monetize your blog yet then permit me to ask; what're you waiting for?

When I started blogging, I thought it wasn't necessary to monetize my blog since I was starting out new, but it wasn't true. You can make money from blogging even the first day of launch, it doesn't matter how much.

You could make some affiliate sales upon launch, I advise you sign up for affiliate programs immediately after launch or even before and start promoting stuffs in your posts.

There are tons of ways to make money from blogging, but I will focus on just two ways since you're a new blogger, sorry if you're not! 😃

1. Google AdSense
Google AdSense is one cool and fast way to make money from blogging, you can sign up immediately after launch or weeks after. Though AdSense requires your blog to be six months old before approval in some country. AdSense is the most used monetization strategy currently..

How it works? Adsense displays banners on your blog, The adverts are from AdSense clients and they've paid some certain amount for this ads. So when this ads is displayed and probably clicked on your blog, you'll end some amount of money. How much? I don't know, it depends on how much the client pays for a certain advert. It ranges from $0.02 to $30 per click, it could be more!

Note that AdSense has their own share from any click you generated. It's shared 60% by 40%, you get the bigger percentage.

AdSense has other kinds of ads aside banner ads, they include text ads, sponsored content, and many more. Sign up for AdSense by clicking here.

Some AdSense alternative include media.net, properllerAds and some others I mentioned here!

2.Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is another great way to make money from blogging, it all about promoting a certain link and earning from it.

It's a CPA (cost per action) advertising, so you're not paid per click but you're paid when someone performs certain actions like signing up a website or buying a product through your link. Though I heard some affiliate companies pay for clicks but I don't know any and can't recommend any!

How Much You Earn? If you're an affiliate for an affiliate company then it's been share by percentage and the percentage differs by various affiliate companies. Lets say you're promoting for CJ, and the percentage may be shared 70% and 30% respectively, so if the product you're promoting is $50, you'll be given your own percentage.

Some other affiliate program has fixed price, example is tailwind where I get $15 per referral. Tailwind is a scheduling tool for Pinterest & Instagram.

There are various methods affiliate companies pay, just read the affiliate terms of each and everyone you're signing up for.

Some affiliate companies you could sign up to are;
Maxbounty
ShareASale
Cj
ClickBank
LinkShare

Those are the two ways to make money from your blog, when you're a bit experienced you can consider creating and selling your own product like EBook, online course, etc and probably have your own affiliates. Till then! 😄

I also have a fabulous article where I divulged 51+ adnetworks to make money from your blog, in case you're needing some more ways to monetize!

Final Thoughts!

Those are some things I recommend you do after you've launched your blog.
